The Information Technology industry (often abbreviated as IT) operates in all sectors of the economy and supports diverse, rapidly-evolving technologies. The IT industry provides computer hardware, software, and services that enable access to information and connect people within various fields. These help increase business productivity by streamlining business processes, boosting efficiency, ensuring data security, reducing costs, and responding to changing customer needs quickly.
Moreover, it assists employees with their professional duties; helps non-technical workers develop skills; initiates digital collaboration between people located in different areas; facilitates patient healthcare management systems for physicians; maintains the performance of supply chains for companies, and drives research breakthroughs.

A brief history of technological advances


Computers have been around for a little more than 80 years now, but it wasn't until the 1960s that they really began to take off. The first computer was developed in 1946 when the first digital computer came out. And in 1957, this same company became one of the first to develop an integrated circuit that could hold memory from random access memory (RAM). Computers had gone from being these massive boxes to something people could use for work on their desktops.

In 1997, we saw another breakthrough in tech history when two scientists working at Bell Labs invented the World Wide Web (aka the internet).
